About the School
To the 300th anniversary of the Russian Academy of Sciences!
Structural Biology is a rapidly growing field of life sciences. Structural Biology allows us to consider the mechanisms of interaction of individual components of a living cell - proteins, lipids, nucleic acids at a molecular and atomic level. Knowledge of a spatial structure of various targets: receptors, ion channels and supramolecular complexes, as well as an understanding of the basis of their interaction with ligands and biological membranes, allows for rational drug design.
To highlight the latest advances and techniques, in 2019 we launched the International School of Structural Biology (IS-SB) for young scientists. The School brings together structural biologists from all over the world. The goal of the School is to give young scientists and students of Russia knowledge about various areas of Structural Biology, show them what leading scientific laboratories in Russia and the world are working on, and also provide opportunities for establishing new scientific collaborations.
